The following poem is the inspiration for my painting "Snow Scene":
As I walk through wintry wood,
My footsteps gently muffled,
I ponder in the snow-filled air,
The landscape clean, untroubled.
All that's jagged becomes smooth,
And every hole is filled,
The turmoil of a bustling world
Becomes quiet, peaceful, stilled.
The snow comes softly, softly down
Making pure whatever's stained,
A bandage for the scars and wounds
Of a weary, cold, terrain.
The snow comes softly, softly down
To blanket street and lawn,
A veil to hide earth's ugliness,
In a pleasant, scenic balm.
I wish my soul was covered like this-
Surrounded in layers of white,
The pain and shame of weaknesses
Concealed from heaven's sight.
I need the silent, healing touch
A balm for a sin-filled heart,
A quiet peace to replace my fears,
A light to replace the dark.
The grace came softly, softly down
A gift from the Father above,
Pure and spotless sacrifice
The Son's desire and love.
His grace comes softly, softly down
A hope in life that's sure,
A veil to hide my ugliness,
An eternal, cleansing cure.

“Why Would Wise Men Follow a Star?”
Why would wise men follow a star?
Was it new in the heavens and not on their charts?
Was it known to them by fable, legend, myth or tale
That would cause them to travel so far?
Why would wise men follow a star?
Did the wise men know prophets of old?
And to them or their fathers was the king’s birth foretold?
Would those words guide their journey, through desert & night,
Did they dream what their search would behold?
Did the wise men know prophets of old?
How would wise men honor a king?
Having riches and treasure, what’s worth to bring?
Gifts of frankincense, gold and myrrh they would give.
Bowing down they would worship and sing
That’s how wise men honor a king.
Are you a wise man following a star?
With prophecies fulfilled now the journeys’ not far.
You need not gold nor silver, to worship the King.
Bowing down you can give Him your heart?
Do you know that He sees who you are?
Are you a wise man following a star?

The following song "Oh, Bethlehem, written by my husband Perry, is the inspiration for my painting "Oh, Bethlehem".
Oh Bethlehem
Oh, Bethlehem,
How long has it been,
Since you gave us a King,
A ruler of Jerusalem?
Oh Bethlehem,
Your size may be small,
But the prophet foresaw,
The Shepherd of Israel.
O House of Bread,
Your name proclaims your destiny,
When your Son becomes,
The manna for the world.
Kings will come to worship,
With gifts from distant lands,
Angels’ praises,
Will echo in your fields.
Oh Bethlehem,
The darkness needs the light,
Shine your star in the night,
The glory of Immanuel.
Oh Bethlehem,
Now quietly you sleep,
Your shepherds’ watch will keep
Until Jesus the Savior is born.
Oh Bethlehem.
